ENSEMBLE ALTERA

Join Ensemble Altera as we present 'American Voices in Song', a totally FREE community choral concert. Haven't been to a classical music concert before? This one is for you! And if you have experience going to classical music concerts, we'd love you to come along as well. This event is a perfect introduction to this amazing music that we are hugely passionate about and want to share with you. Everyone from all backgrounds and ages is encouraged to attend this informal and fun event in the gorgeous setting and acoustic of the Providence Public Library atrium.

Alongside this wonderful music, the evening celebrates and centers the diversity that is a hallmark of our complicated American heritage. The concert is accompanied by a pre-concert talk on issues of identity in 21st-century America, given by a celebrated academic. The lecture and concert offers a lens through which we might reflect on and examine how our nation has so often fallen short of its promise, but also celebrate the long and difficult march towards justice.
